Ed Pereira, CEO of the promotional company iVisit Boxing, has opened up about negotiations with the team of WBC, WBA, and IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. Previously, the company had expressed a desire to organize the most attended boxing event in US history.
“First hand – I have to be careful. Someone asked me the other day, what fight would you dream of? I’m a fan. I’m just like the guys listening to me. I answered straight, just like any fan would. But then my words hit social media. So I have to learn to keep my mouth shut.
I will say this. Everyone seems to think the deal is done. It is not. We only had preliminary talks with Usyk’s team a few weeks ago. Nothing has been finalized. It’s not Usyk and Wilder. I was asked if I would like to have Usyk on the card, and I answered that, of course, everyone would. So I answered as a fan. I need to learn to hold my tongue.
So it has to be a heavyweight fight, right? I agree with the fans on that. But I hope the viewers understand. I have to keep my mouth shut. Otherwise, you hear my dream, and it hasn't happened yet,” Pereira said.
Currently, Deontay Wilder is targeting a showdown with Briton Derek Chisora. The next opponent for Oleksandr Usyk remains unknown.
