52-Year-Old Ike Ibeabuchi Announces Fight Against Danny Williams

Former Nigerian heavyweight contender Ike Ibeabuchi (20-0, 15 KOs) has announced that he will face 51-year-old Briton Danny Williams (55-33, 42 KOs) in a boxing match.

The fight contract between me and Danny Williams is valid until July 5, 2025,” Ibeabuchi wrote.

Once seen as a future world champion, Ibeabuchi was a rising star in the heavyweight division during the 1990s but spent the majority of the following decades behind bars. In 1999, he was incarcerated in Las Vegas and served 16 years for sexual assault.

Although he has made several attempts to return to the sport, including in 2016, Ibeabuchi was sent back to prison in Arizona for violating parole conditions and due to a 2003 warrant he claims he was unaware of.

In December, the Nigerian was expected to return to the ring in his homeland against Egyptian fighter Ayman Farouk Abbas, but the bout fell through.

Ibeabuchi last fought on March 20, 1999, when he defeated Chris Byrd by technical knockout in the 5th round.

Danny Williams, who is most known for knocking out Mike Tyson in 2004, last fought in August 2023, losing a unanimous decision to Lawson Loizou.
