IBF Orders Rematch Between Frank Sanchez and Efe Ajagba

The International Boxing Federation (IBF) has sanctioned a Heavyweight rematch between Frank Sanchez (25-1, 17 KOs) of Cuba and Efe Ajagba (20-1-1, 14 KOs) of Nigeria.

The winner of this bout will likely be ordered to face Derek Chisora in a final eliminator, with the victor becoming the mandatory challenger for the IBF world title currently held by Daniel Dubois.

Initially, the IBF had planned a matchup between Sanchez and Filip Hrgović, but the Croatian fighter declined and will instead face David Adeleye on August 16.

If the Sanchez–Ajagba rematch is finalized, it is expected to take place on the undercard of the Saul Alvarez vs Terence Crawford event, scheduled for September 13.

Their first encounter happened in October 2021, where Sanchez defeated Ajagba by unanimous decision.
