Hearn Talks Up a Whittaker Fight in the U.S.: “He’s a future superstar”

Ben Whittaker, Eddie Hearn / Mark Robinson, Matchroom Boxing

Matchroom Boxing chief Eddie Hearn, promoter of British WBC Silver Light Heavyweight titleholder Ben Whittaker, shared his thoughts on the possibility of his client fighting in the United States.

“In the UK, there’s going to be a lot of pressure from DAZN for Ben to stay here, because he delivers massive numbers, but everyone has to understand this is also about his development.

I think he’ll do very well in America — he already has a huge audience there on social media. I think they’ll like his style and his ability to put on a show, and it makes sense for us to do a fight against an American opponent — we’ll see who that could be.

He’s a future superstar. We need to gradually step up the level of opposition, keep the public interested, but at the same time give him ring time and experience before taking risks,” said Hearn.

As a reminder, on the night of November 30, Ben Whittaker (10-0-1, 7 KOs) knocked out Benjamin Gavazi in the very first round to win the WBC Silver title. Ready to Fight’s stats for the bout can be found via the link.
