Hearn on the Ennis vs. Ortiz Fight: “Virgil Lost His Pen”

Head of the promotional company Matchroom Boxing, Eddie Hearn, spoke about the stage of negotiations for the fight between Vergil Ortiz and Jaron Ennis. The latter is represented by Hearn's company.

“We’re just waiting. Golden Boy told us they want to make the fight. Virgil lost his pen.

Hopefully, he finds it,” said Hearn.

Vergil Ortiz Sr. responded on his Twitter account:

“Eddie can talk all he wants trying to save face after 2 previous pullouts. You can fool your guys, but not our manager.

Come back and negotiate in good faith. Like your people say, we will do what we want. How do you like that now?” wrote Ortiz.

It was previously reported about 6-hour negotiations between the boxers’ teams. At that time, they supposedly agreed on a follow-up meeting in the near future.
