John Fury on Tyson vs. Joshua: “The greatest fight in history can still happen”

John Fury / Misfits Boxing

John Fury, father of former heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury, shared his thoughts on a potential fight between his son and Anthony Joshua.

“He has a rivalry with Tyson, but deep down they love each other, like all fighters do. And AJ has given me many tense evenings, just like Tyson. The greatest fight in history can still happen.

But let’s give Anthony a bit of time. As much time as he needs. If he doesn’t want it anymore, I’ll understand. Still, he needs to be given enough time — he’ll come back when he’s ready, I’m sure of it. Otherwise, he has already given us many great nights, and may God bless him,” John Fury said.

On 19 December, Anthony Joshua (29-4, 26 KOs) knocked out Jake Paul in the 6th round. On New Year’s Eve, 29 December, the Briton was involved in a car accident in Nigeria in which his close friends and coaches Sina and Latz were killed.

Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) has not boxed since December 2024, when he lost twice to Oleksandr Usyk and then announced his retirement. In early January, the ex-champion confirmed that he would be returning to the ring.
