Former Teofimo Opponent: “Shakur will beat Lopez”

American boxer Jermaine Ortiz shared his thoughts on the upcoming fight between his former opponent, WBO Junior Welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez, and WBC Lightweight titleholder Shakur Stevenson.

“I think Shakur wins. I don’t think it’s going to be a close fight. I don’t see a lot of action in there. He’s going to work his way in and out, do things that Teo doesn’t like. He’s got the longer arms, and he’s going to keep him at distance.

Teofimo moves around a lot, plays around, but without his hands, without real offense. He creates the impression like he’s doing something, when in reality he’s not doing anything. I don’t see that Shakur who boxed Zepeda, who stands in close and fights. I don’t think we’ll see much of that — maybe in spots,” Ortiz told MillCity Boxing.

Lopez (22-1, 13 KOs) vs Stevenson (24-0, 11 KOs) will take place on January 31 in New York, USA. The WBO and The Ring titles at Junior Welterweight — held by Lopez — will be on the line.

Ortiz (20-2-1, 10 KOs) fought Teofimo in February 2024, with Lopez winning by unanimous decision.
