Eddie Hearn on Anthony Joshua: "There Is Almost No Talk of Boxing Right Now"

Eddie Hearn, the promoter of former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua, has provided an update on the condition of the Matchroom Boxing star. In late 2025, Joshua was involved in a tragic car accident that resulted in the deaths of two of his trainers.

“There is almost no talk of boxing right now with Joshua. It was good to see him. Obviously, he has a lot to go through following the tragic accident and to mourn the loss of two of his closest friends and key members of his team.

Physically and emotionally he is recovering, and boxing will likely become a topic of conversation in the coming months, but not weeks. I know Anthony is an athlete, he loves boxing, but right now we are giving him the space he needs to recover.

I feel like he will return to the sport. When the time comes, if that time ever comes again, it will be Anthony's decision alone,” Hearn said.
