De La Hoya Names the American Who Will Bring the Heavyweight Title Back to the U.S.

Golden Boy Promotions founder Oscar De La Hoya has named the boxer who, in his view, can return the Heavyweight world title to the United States. The last American world champions were Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz, although Ruiz identifies as Mexican despite being born in the U.S.

“I believe that here in the U.S. I have a real gold nugget — Joshua Edwards, who can make noise and deliver several big heavyweight fights against the best European fighters.

I believe Joshua Edwards is the fighter who will bring the Heavyweight world title back to the United States,” De La Hoya said.

Recently, Joshua Edwards named his “blacklist” — three opponents he definitely wants to face. On it were two world champions and Moses Itauma.
