David Benavidez Returning to Super Middleweight for Crawford Fight

WBC Light Heavyweight champion David Benavidez has shared his thoughts on a potential fight against undisputed Super Middleweight world champion Terence Crawford.

I’ll be back at Super Middleweight soon — let’s see who the real undisputed is. Against my pressure, Crawford will break like everyone else.

Crawford caught Canelo already on the decline: heavy legs, questionable chin. That’s not a win over the Canelo we knew — that’s taking advantage of the situation.

If Bud wants to talk about being the GOAT, then he needs to fight guys who are at their peak and hungry for victories, not go on a farewell tour with hand-picked opponents,” Benavidez said.

On September 13, Terence Crawford (42-0, 31 KOs) defeated Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (63-3-2, 39 KOs) by unanimous decision and became the first undisputed champion in three weight divisions in the four-belt era.

After the fight, the head of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, Turki Alalsheikh, asked Benavidez if he could return to Super Middleweight for a fight with Crawford.

On November 22, David Benavidez (30-0, 24 KOs) is set to face Anthony Yarde.
