Dalton Smith Announces New Date for Matias Clash

Dalton Smith, the WBC titleholder, has confirmed the new date for his upcoming showdown with fellow WBC champion Subriel Matias.

“January 10. New York. Yes, that’s what we’ve heard,” Smith said.

Dalton Smith (18-0, 13 KOs) last fought in April, defeating Mathieu Germain by unanimous decision.

Subriel Matias (23-2, 22 KOs) captured his belt in July, earning a majority decision victory over Alberto Puello. Following that fight, Matias and Smith had a face-off.

The fight was initially expected to take place on November 22 as part of the undercard for David Benavidez vs. Anthony Yarde, but the sides were unable to finalize an agreement in time.
