British light heavyweight contender Ben Whittaker has made his intentions clear as he spoke about the next phase of his career.
“The goal is to become a world champion. I can fight all over the world because I’ve got a more global audience. The main thing is staying active. You’ve got to keep moving. I’m only 28. When your career reaches the later stages — when you’re already a champion or a top contender — everything slows down.
I’ll have one more fight this year. Matchroom Boxing have laid out a plan for me to fight three or four times a year — and that’s exactly what I need,” said Whittaker.
Ben Whittaker (9-0-1, 6 KOs) is set to face Benjamin Gawazi on November 29 in Birmingham, United Kingdom. The WBC Silver light heavyweight title will be on the line.
