Janibek Alimkhanuly’s “B” Sample Confirms Presence of Doping: New Details of the Scandal

The “B” doping sample of WBO and IBF Middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly showed a positive result. This was reported by the President of the Kazakhstan Professional Boxing Federation (KBPF) Rakhimzhan Yerdenbekov.

“Recently, the final expertise came from VADA in America on 34 pages, and the ‘B’ sample confirmed the presence of doping in Alimkhanuly. Right now the moment is such that our federation has taken jurisdiction over Janibek, since he is a licensed boxer of our federation and the last boxing evening with his participation took place in Astana, where the boxing evening was held with our sanction.

The question now is whether he took it consciously or how it got into his body. The question stands like this for now.

Many questions were asked of Janibek. Starting from April, we listened to his entire life path up to the detection of these materials in him. Yesterday new facts came to light, which I cannot disclose right now. On January 23, we will continue the hearings,” said Yerdenbekov.

Doping was found in Alimkhanuly's system right before the duel against Erislandy Lara. They were supposed to fight for three belts in the Middleweight division, but as a result of a test conducted under contract with the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA), the banned substance meldonium was detected in Alimkhanuly's sample.
