
The boxing community is choosing the best performers from the past season. The World Boxing Council (WBC) has unveiled a list of six specialists contending for the title of Trainer of the Year 2025. The list includes the mentors of today’s most prominent champions.
The WBC officially presented the list of nominees whose pupils demonstrated the highest achievements in the global ring.
List of candidates and their achievements according to the WBC:
– Yurii Tkachenko (coach of Oleksandr Usyk): Nominated for his strategic preparation of Oleksandr Usyk for his successful heavyweight title defenses. Experts noted his elite tactical mastery in top-level bouts.
– Shingo Inoue (coach of Naoya and Takuma Inoue): Under his guidance, Naoya Inoue confirmed his undisputed status, while Takuma Inoue captured a world title in a tense confrontation.
– Ross Enamait (coach of Katie Taylor): Led Katie Taylor to a historic victory in the trilogy against Amanda Serrano at Madison Square Garden, serving as a logical conclusion to her boxing legacy.
– Freddy Fundora (coach of Gabriela and Sebastian Fundora): Recognized for Gabriela Fundora’s success in achieving undisputed status and strengthening Sebastian Fundora's position among the light middleweight elite.
– Brian "BoMac" McIntyre (coach of Terence Crawford and Lester Martinez): Continued his successful streak with Terence Crawford and elevated the career of Guatemalan boxer Lester Martinez to a new level.
– Robert Garcia (coach of Jesse Rodriguez and Vergil Ortiz): Guided Jesse Rodriguez to a title unification in the junior bantamweight division and maintained the winning streak of Vergil Ortiz Jr.
