“You need to change some things.” Serhii Lapin explains how cooperation with Joshua began

Serhii Lapin, director of three-time undisputed world champion Oleksandr Usyk and CEO of Ready to Fight, spoke about working with British former world champion Anthony Joshua ahead of Joshua’s fight with influencer and boxer Jake Paul.

– How did Joshua become part of Team Usyk?

– Recently we’ve been on good terms after the fight. We communicated well, we were friends with AJ. One day we told him: “AJ, you need to change some things. Okay, come to our training camp, we’ll see what we can do.” He came. Now we’re here supporting him.

– Anthony Joshua has had a long career with different trainers. What’s the difference now? What new things are you teaching Joshua?

– You know, I can’t say too much. People are always saying: “Ooooh, we’ve got something new.” We’ll see the result in the fight. That’s the main thing. We had the studying phase, and now the exam is ahead. This fight is not an exam, it’s just a big sparring session. We’ll see. Step by step.
