What’s Next for Oleksandr Usyk? Serhii Lapin Answers

Serhii Lapin, director of Oleksandr Usyk’s team and CEO of Ready to Fight, shared his thoughts on the Ukrainian champion’s next steps:

“What’s next for Usyk and the team? We’ll think about the future—in the future. Right now it’s time to rest. But we remain open to negotiations.

Ukraine needs victories now more than ever. We were incredibly moved by the support of our compatriots—especially those on the front lines.

For Oleksandr it means a great deal to lift the national spirit while the country faces nightly missile strikes and relentless fighting.”

On 19 July Oleksandr Usyk (24‑0, 15 KOs) knocked out Daniel Dubois (22‑3, 21 KOs) in round five to become a three‑time undisputed champion.

The WBO has since sanctioned a bout between Usyk and interim titleholder Joseph Parker (36‑3, 24 KOs); the camps have 30 days to strike a deal.
