WBC President on the Implications of Fury vs. Makhmudov for Heavyweight Rankings

Mauricio Sulaiman

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman discussed what a victory would mean for the winner of the clash between Tyson Fury and Arslanbek Makhmudov. The two are set to meet on April 11 in Great Britain.

“As a former champion, Fury has rights and privileges. I am sure that the winner will take a high place in the WBC rankings.

Makhmudov held the WBC International and Silver titles; he is tough, strong. Returning after a long time out of the ring is an interesting challenge for Fury.

Tyson Fury is Tyson Fury. He is a sensational ambassador for boxing, a great fighter, he has a huge number of fans, and I am very happy.

His life without boxing is not the same. Tyson is always in shape, always focused. I think that Tyson Fury will be in boxing for a long time.

He overcame huge difficulties, both in boxing and with addictions. He came back and became champion, knocking out Wilder, and then had a great championship run, motivating and influencing many people around the world.

It is just an incredible story. He is someone who embodies the best in boxing,” Sulaiman said.

The bout between Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) and Makhmudov (21-2, 19 KOs) will be broadcast on Netflix.
