Serhii Lapin, director of the team of WBA, WBC, IBF and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, shared his thoughts on the Ukrainian’s next steps in an exclusive interview with Ready to Fight.
“The team is working on it. I think manager Egis Klimas will soon share something interesting with you. I’ll put it this way: in 2026 we will see Usyk back in the ring. Everything in its own time,” Lapin said.
Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) last fought in July, when he knocked out Daniel Dubois in their rematch and became undisputed world champion for the third time.
Earlier, Serhii Lapin spoke about the cooperation between Usyk’s team and former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua — why the Briton turned specifically to the Ukrainians, how their interaction is structured, and whether Usyk will be in his corner.
