Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia Turki Alalshikh officially announced the next duel of star Mexican Saul Alvarez. The return of the ex-champion is planned for September 12 as part of a massive boxing show with the concept “Mexico vs. The World.”
According to the Saudi official, this event will become the first tournament organized by the boxer’s own promotional company — Canelo Promotions.
“Champ, wait for us in September. September 12. Big-big-big fight. This will be the first tournament for Canelo Promotions. It will be Mexico vs. The World. All fighters from Canelo’s team – against the world. Saul will be in the main event for a world title. And it will be a surprise,” stated Turki Alalshikh.
The organizer promised that Alvarez will fight for a world title, however, the opponent’s name is currently kept secret.
In 2025, Canelo lost the undisputed champion status, losing to Terence Crawford. Subsequently, the American boxer announced the conclusion of his career and vacated all belts. At the moment, the only reigning champion in the Super Middleweight division is Jose Armando Resendiz, who plans to make a defense against Jaime Munguia.
