“Too Late.” Frank Warren Explained Why He Postponed the Entire Show Due to Itauma’s Injury

Founder and head of the promotional company Queensberry Promotions Frank Warren shared details regarding the condition of his client, British Heavyweight prospect Moses Itauma.

– What about Moses’ injury, Frank?

– Well, touch wood, everything is fine. He had a torn biceps. So, obviously, he couldn't fight, and I think we mentioned this before. Instead of trying to find another fight, we just moved the show.

And that’s what everyone agreed to, including the broadcasters. Of course, the fighters weren't too happy about it, as most of them sacrificed Christmas for training, but we will take care of them. So, it is what it is — we moved the show to March 28 at the Co-op Arena.

– Was the option of replacing the main event considered?

– It’s difficult, there was too little time. Too late, so it just wouldn't have worked. I don't want to show disrespect to anyone. If it were one of the undercard fights, we probably could have done something, but this was the main event, and that’s exactly what we were selling. In the end, it’s around the main event that television builds the show,” said Warren.

As a reminder, on January 24, Moses Itauma (13-0, 11 KOs) was supposed to hold a bout against the American Jermaine Franklin (24-2, 15 KOs), but he suffered a biceps injury, so the entire boxing evening was postponed to March 28.
