Current WBO super lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez opened up about his career earnings, including how much he made after his most high-profile victory over Vasyl Lomachenko.
“I’ve accepted low purses for big fights. I still haven’t earned over a million dollars per fight.
When I fought Lomachenko during the Covid-19 pandemic, people were saying I got an extra $800,000 on top, but no, that didn’t happen. I came home with $460,000 after all expenses, having beaten the P4P leader, who was ranked above Crawford and Canelo.
Later, when it came to the Josh Taylor fight, I went home with around $700,000 to $800,000,” Lopez shared.
The Lopez-Lomachenko fight took place in 2020, where Teofimo won by unanimous decision.
