“He’s Deceiving His Own Mind”: Shakur Stevenson Breaks Down Teofimo’s Knockout Prediction

WBC Lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson shared his expectations for the upcoming confrontation with WBO Super Lightweight titleholder Teofimo Lopez.

“Teo is the most experienced in this weight class. It’s a risk, and I love taking risks. My main rule is: scared money don’t make money. He’s the leader in the Super Lightweight division. Therefore, I can't make him move down in weight category. I have to move up to him.

Teofimo’s prediction for a stoppage victory? I think that’s where his ego kicks in. He’s trying to deceive his own mind into believing his own words.

When he fights big, slow guys like Josh Taylor or Arnold Barboza Jr., that’s when he attacks. But when he boxes someone who is smaller, faster, or even against not-so-talented guys like George Kambosos Jr., he has problems.

Risk? I like it because that’s when guys underestimate me,” said Shakur.

The bout between Shakur Stevenson (24-0, 11 KOs) and Teofimo Lopez (22-1, 13 KOs) will take place on January 31 at Madison Square Garden in New York, USA. On the line for the fight will be the WBO and The Ring Super Lightweight titles, currently held by Teofimo.
