WBC Lightweight Champion Shakur Stevenson has agreed to a fight with WBO Super Lightweight Champion Teofimo Lopez, reports BoxingScene.
Stevenson is interested in staging the bout in January and has accepted the terms offered by Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority chairman Turki Alalsheikh.
At the same time, Stevenson and the Saudi organizers recall that Lopez previously backed out of a fight with Devin Haney, even though the deal was nearly finalized at the time.
On July 12, Shakur Stevenson (24-0, 11 KOs) defeated William Zepeda by unanimous decision.
In May, Teofimo Lopez (22-1, 13 KOs) outpointed Arnold Barboza by unanimous decision.
