Rey Vargas to Return in August – The Ring

WBC Featherweight champion in recess Rey Vargas (36-1-1, 22 KO) is set to face American contender Carlos Castro (30-3, 14 KO), according to The Ring.

The bout is expected to take place on 16 August, slotting into the undercard of the rematch between Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach.

Vargas last stepped through the ropes in March 2024, boxing to a draw with Nick Ball. Castro’s most recent outing was in September, when he dropped a split decision to Stephen Fulton.
