David Picasso: “I Have Two Dreams: To Become a Nobel Prize Laureate and a World Champion”

Naoya Inoue, David Picasso / Mark Robinson, Matchroom Boxing

25-year-old Mexican David Picasso shared his expectations for the duel against undisputed Super Bantamweight world champion Naoya Inoue.

I see that Inoue is strong and very fast. However, he is a human being just the same and can make mistakes like everyone else. I am taller than him — it helps at least a little bit, and that is an important point.

This year I spent little time in the ring — only one fight. However, I worked in the gym more than ever. After the last fight (with Kameda – ed.) I spent a lot of time in the gym, and I am ready.

In the previous fight, I was not 100% ready because I was combining studying for a degree and boxing. Now I have finished my studies, fully focused on boxing, and I am ready. Combining both things was very difficult, but I was lucky — my family supports me. I have two dreams in life: to become a Nobel Prize laureate and to become a world boxing champion.

I am fighting for my family and for my team. As they say in ‘The Three Musketeers’: ‘One for all and all for one.’ This is the biggest fight for a Mexican boxer possible, so I feel this responsibility as well.

I can take home not one belt, but five belts at once. This is a feeling I have never encountered before, but I know it will be special,” said Picasso.

The bout between David Picasso (32-0-1, 17 KOs) and Naoya Inoue (31-0, 27 KOs) will take place on December 27 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. You can check the tournament start time and the full undercard at the link.
