The Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Turki Alalshikh, revealed details of a strategic partnership with the former undisputed Super Middleweight champion of the world, Saul Alvarez.

During the meeting, the official emphasized that he is interested in a long-term cooperation with Canelo for the next 5–7 years, shared plans for a grand finale to the Mexican’s career, and also put an end to the question of a potential rematch with Terence Crawford.

“We want Canelo to stay with us five to seven years, not one or two. Right now we are in negotiations; in September we will have big fights, and we will make an announcement regarding a world title bout.

In 2027, we will have one big fight. We will continue our cooperation, and we hope that one day we will hold a final bout together in Mexico — somewhere for half a million spectators or something like that. This is the main idea, because you are a hero of your people, the people need you, and perhaps after this, you will run for president of Mexico.

I hope that you will have a good life, and I hope that your family will be happy, and you will be happy. And now, let’s challenge people! And we won’t call out Crawford — let him retire. We are no longer interested in Crawford,” said Turki Alalshikh.

Canelo Alvarez (63-3-2, 39 KOs) last entered the ring on September 13 against Terence Crawford (42-0, 31 KOs) and lost by unanimous decision, losing the undisputed world championship title. Shortly thereafter, Crawford announced his retirement and vacated all belts.
