“Joshua Could’ve Fought Me”: Kabayel on Possible Joshua–Paul Matchup

Interim WBC heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel shared his thoughts on a potential fight between former world champion Anthony Joshua and influencer-boxer Jake Paul.

“It’s crazy. Boxing has changed. All the fans want to watch fun fights now. I don’t know why. AJ has a big audience, and Jake Paul has a big audience. I think fans all over the world will watch this fight.

It’s a big event, people like it, but to me, for AJ, this isn’t sport — it’s not competition.

If AJ says this is the best path for him… that’s his path. He could’ve fought me, he could’ve fought many other guys, but I think after his last fight, which he lost, he needs some psychological recovery,” Kabayel said.

Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KO) last fought in September 2024, when he was knocked out in the fifth round by Daniel Dubois.

Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KO) was scheduled to face Gervonta Davis in an exhibition on November 14, but Davis was accused of assaulting his former partner. According to recent reports, Joshua may replace Davis in December.
