Interim WBO Heavyweight champion Joseph Parker has shared his thoughts on his upcoming opponent, interim WBA titleholder Fabio Wardley.
“I’m glad he accepted the challenge. There are many fighters who say they’re ready to fight anyone, but often those are just words.
We’re both in a good position — he’s the WBA mandatory, I’m the WBO, but we’re not just going to sit and wait. We want to stay active. He has repeatedly proven that he takes serious challenges and always finds a way to win, so his decision didn’t surprise me.
Look at his career, look at all the knockouts — every time he found a way to win. He’s one of the top five in the world,” Parker said.
The fight between Joseph Parker (36-3, 24 KOs) and Fabio Wardley (19-0-1, 18 KOs) will take place on October 25 at the O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom.
The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has ordered undisputed Heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk to face the winner of this bout.
