John Fury: “I Don’t Want to See Him End Up Like Parker”

John Fury, father of former unified heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, believes his son’s current team is not capable of creating the conditions necessary to defeat Oleksandr Usyk. At the same time, he insists Tyson has already beaten the Ukrainian.

“I don’t want him to come back. He’s done enough. I don’t want to see my son end up like Joe Parker today. Because unfortunately, that’s how it happens. Time is catching up with him, and Tyson hasn’t been the same since the Wilder fights. He dismantled Wilder, but Wilder took a lot from him.

Usyk fought Tyson at the right moment and still couldn’t beat him. Tyson fought a ‘beast’ three times. You know, he had a concussion. You get what I’m saying? And he came back, and both times there were disputes about the results of the fights with Usyk. But if he wants to fight him again — that’s his choice.

I’m saying he should leave it alone because he’ll need a knockout to win. And unfortunately, I’ll repeat: the people around him don’t have the brains, the knowledge, or what it takes to beat Usyk. Because Usyk is a world-class fighter. He’s in great shape, he gives everything in training, he has a great team. Look how they robbed my son of the undisputed heavyweight title. I was throwing rotten apples at the TV. If I were there, a lot of people would’ve got it in the face.
