An IBF representative told Sky Sports the organization’s stance on a potential bout between WBC/WBA/IBF Heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and former world champion Deontay Wilder.
“The IBF is not next in the mandatory challenger rotation. For us, it only becomes an issue when it’s time for the IBF mandatory defense,” said the federation representative.
The IBF is the second sanctioning body to publicly raise no objections to staging the fight. Earlier, the WBC said Usyk submitted a request for a voluntary title defense and received approval.
