Wardley’s Coach on a Fight With Usyk: “Our Chances Are No Worse Than Anyone Else’s”

Rob Hodgkins, coach of interim WBO heavyweight champion Fabio Wardley, shared his thoughts on a potential matchup between his fighter and the division’s undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk.

“We have some of the best boxing minds in the UK — Ben Davison and Lee Wylie. We’ll create a game plan designed to throw Usyk off rhythm and see how it plays out. I think our chances are no worse than anyone else’s. For me, Usyk is the greatest boxer of all time, regardless of weight class.”

Hodgkins emphasized that Wardley’s belief in himself would be a key factor:

“It all comes down to Fabio’s confidence. He’ll enter the ring 100% convinced he can beat Usyk — convinced he can knock him out. Usyk is a world-class fighter, but what happens if Fabio lands clean? Both of his hands can change a fight instantly. This will be an exciting matchup, and we can’t wait to start preparing.”

On October 25, Fabio Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KO) defeated Joseph Parker (36-4, 24 KO) by 11th-round TKO. The WBOhas ordered Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KO) to defend his title against the winner — making Wardley the mandatory challenger.
