WBA lightweight champion (up to 61,2 kg) Gervonta Davis (29-0, 27 KOs) commented on the news about the negative doping test result of junior welterweight (up to 63,5 kg) Ryan Garcia (25-1, 20 KOs).
Despite ongoing accusations of using another banned substance, Gervonta rushed to defend his fellow athlete.
"So did Ryan honestly and fairly whip this buddy’s ass? What will the lady with the French bulldog face (referring to Claressa Shields) say about this?" wrote Tank.
On the night of April 21, Ryan Garcia won by majority decision against WBC junior welterweight champion Devin Haney (31-1, 15 KOs). Despite the loss, Devin remains the WBC champion since Ryan did not make the weight limit and was not eligible for the title.
It was later revealed that Garcia had failed doping tests taken the day before his fight against Haney, but according to insider Dan Rafael, the presence of one of the prohibited substances in the fighter's sample was not confirmed. The samples will be retested on May 22.
