Fabio Wardley: “If it wasn’t for Dillian Whyte, I’d still be wandering around small halls”

WBO interim heavyweight champion Fabio Wardley shared his emotions after stopping Joseph Parker in London. The Brit expressed gratitude to his team and especially Dillian Whyte, who helped launch his professional career by becoming the manager of the Ipswich native.

“What I lack in experience, I make up for with power, heart and determination. I told everyone I wouldn’t lose tonight and that this belt would be mine. I did everything I promised.

I haven’t fully processed it yet. Everyone talks about my journey, but it’s about the lads standing there in white shirts that say ‘Fabio Wardley’, and all the people who supported and believed in me when everyone else said I wasn’t worth anything.

On top of that, it’s all thanks to Dillian Whyte. If it wasn’t for him, I’d still be wandering around little gyms, fighting at York Hall every few months, and nobody would have heard of me. He pulled me up from the bottom and changed my life. I owe him everything,” Wardley said.

On October 25, Fabio Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KOs) stopped Joseph Parker (36-4, 24 KOs) via 11th-round TKO. The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has ordered Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) to make a mandatory defense against the winner of that fight.
