Edwards on RTFight’s Breakdown of Catterall–Essuman Incident: “He Deserved Recovery Time”

Former flyweight world champion Sunny Edwards commented on the controversial moment in round four of the fight between Jack Catterall and Ekow Essuman, which was analyzed in detail on the Ready to Fight Instagram page.

Essuman went down to one knee and quickly got back up, but the referee did not call a knockdown. Catterall continued punching, sending Ekow to the canvas moments later.

“Thought he deserved time to recover and wasn’t given it” Edwards wrote.

The fight ended in the 11th round — Catterall knocked Essuman out, sending him through the ropes. Essuman required an oxygen mask afterward.
