Matchroom Boxing chief Eddie Hearn, promoter of British former Heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua, has outlined his client’s goals for 2026.
“The plan is basically in the hands of Turki Alalshikh — to have a fight in February in Riyadh, and then face Tyson Fury.
As I understand it, that agreement with Tyson Fury hasn’t been finalized yet. So for now there’s not much we can do. We’re ready. We’ve always been ready — no problem. Turki Alalshikh has to get it over the line — he’s never let anyone down, and we’re confident he can do it. If it doesn’t happen, then why not do a fight with Fabio Wardley for the Heavyweight world title? That’s still our goal.
The fight with Jake Paul isn’t the direction we’re moving in right now — it’s just an opportunity we couldn’t turn down. But in 2026 we’ll go back to normal service. And normal service is trying to become a three-time Heavyweight world champion or beating Tyson Fury. That’s the main target for 2026,” said Hearn.
On December 19 in Miami, USA, Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) will face influencer-boxer Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KOs). For the Brit, it will be his first fight since September 2024, when he was knocked out by Daniel Dubois.
