IBF Heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KO) has weighed in on comments from Saudi entertainment chief Turki Alalshikh that former unified ruler Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KO) will return to the ring.
Dubois admits he never took Fury’s January 2025 retirement announcement at face value.
“I don’t think even he took himself seriously. He just says whatever pops into his head. I figured he’d be back—he’s done it before.
When all the belts are on the line, he can come back and make a mega-fight, so I never saw it as final.
I think he will return. Once Tyson sees every title up for grabs, it’ll interest him. He’ll definitely un-retire—and that’s what I want. We need the heavyweight division in good shape so we fighters can land a true mega-fight. That would be massive. That’s exactly what’s needed,” said Dubois.
In 2024 Oleksandr Usyk defeated Fury twice, after which the Briton announced his retirement from professional boxing.
On 19 July at Wembley Stadium in London, Dubois faces Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight crown.
