David Haye on Kellerman’s remarks: “I don’t see what else Usyk could have proved”

Former two-division world champion David Haye has responded to comments from TV host and boxing commentator Max Kellerman, who questioned the heavyweight résumé of undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk.

“Honestly, I believe Usyk is actually underrated. He was an amateur world champion, an Olympic gold medalist, he became the undisputed champion in cruiserweight — including The Ring title — and then repeated the feat in heavyweight. On top of that, he faced the biggest names of his era twice and won both times — even more convincingly the second time.

So it’s hard to imagine what more he could have done to earn recognition. For me it makes no sense. But Max is entitled to his opinion, he knows boxing very well. I’m curious why exactly he thinks Usyk is overrated. I don’t see what else Oleksandr could have proven — he went through the toughest fights and always found a way to win,” said Haye.

Earlier, Max Kellerman stated that “Usyk has gradually become overrated as a heavyweight and underrated as a P4P fighter.”
