David Benavidez announces fight with Gilberto Ramirez

WBC light heavyweight champion David Benavidez has hinted at a future showdown with WBA and WBO cruiserweight titleholder Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez, posting joint photos and a mock fight poster on his Instagram.

“From sparring since I was 16 years old to now a professional fight! God is good!” Benavidez wrote.

The date and location of the bout have not yet been announced, but the fight is expected to land around the Mexican holiday Cinco de Mayo, celebrated on 5 May.

In November, David Benavidez (31-0, 25 KOs) stopped Anthony Yarde via seventh-round TKO.

Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (48-1, 30 KOs) last fought in June, defeating Yuniel Dorticos by unanimous decision.
