Benavidez Calls Out Canelo in New Division: “I Have the Title”

WBC Light Heavyweight champion David Benavidez says he remains ready to face former undisputed Super Middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, a fight he had long pursued.

“I feel like I’m in a great position in my career. I wasn’t planning on going back down to Super Middleweight, but now, if Canelo wants to move up in weight, let him come — I have the WBC Light Heavyweight world title.

After I beat Bivol, I’ll have all the belts, and then I’ll be the one with the power, I’ll be the one who decides.

Canelo says he doesn’t fight for greatness, he fights for titles. Well, I’ll take all the titles, and then we’ll get back to the negotiating table and talk,” Benavidez said.

David Benavidez (30-0, 24 KOs) is scheduled to face Britain’s Anthony Yarde on November 22.
