British Super Welterweight boxer Conor Benn has revealed details of his conversation with WBC Lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson about a potential showdown.
“I spoke to Shakur yesterday: ‘Are you serious? If you’re really serious, we can do the fight in April, at a stadium here.’ He said: ‘Look, I’ll deal with Teo (Lopez). I’m definitely going to win, and 100% we can make the fight happen in April in England.’
The reality is: I’ll make this fight. I’ll tell Eddie (Hearn): ‘We’re doing it. Let’s make the fight.’ Same story as with Eubank — I moved up to 160 pounds, but when I agreed to the fight I was at 147. So I’m ready to fight any guy,” Benn said.
On November 15, Conor Benn (24-1, 14 KOs) defeated Chris Eubank Jr. by unanimous decision in their rematch.
Shakur Stevenson (24-0, 11 KOs) last fought in July, defeating William Zepeda by unanimous decision. His next likely opponent is WBO Junior Welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez.
