German boxer Huseyin Cinkara suffered a fracture in the cervical spine during his fight against Australian IBF Cruiserweight world champion Jai Opetaia, reports journalist Ben Damon.
It happened as a result of the knockout, when Cinkara fell and awkwardly struck the back of his head on the ropes and then on the canvas. The 40-year-old boxer is currently in the hospital.
In addition, Opetaia also suffered an injury — the Australian is suspected of having an orbital fracture.
Recall that on December 6, Jai Opetaia (29-0, 23 KOs) knocked out Huseyin Cinkara (23-1, 19 KOs) in the eighth round with a single left hand.
