British light-heavyweight Ben Whittaker reflected on his first 10 professional bouts and shared how the experience has shaped his mindset and future plans.
“I’ve only had ten fights, but I’ve learned a lot. The good thing is, there have been plenty of ups and downs in those ten fights. I think this bit of experience I’ve gained will take me a long way in my career.
As an amateur, I achieved everything — medals at the World Championships, the Europeans, the Olympics — but nothing compares to professional boxing. It’s completely different, and I feel ready for it now.
Activity is the key to success. I just need to stay in the ring. That’s when you learn and deliver your best performances. So for me, the goal is to stay active, and hopefully, this will be a great year,” Whittaker said on Matchroom’s Flash Knockdown show.
Ben Whittaker (9-0-1, 6 KOs) last fought in April, defeating Liam Cameron in a rematch via second-round technical knockout. Their first encounter ended in a technical draw after both fighters fell out of the ring following the bell, causing Whittaker to suffer an injury.
