Interim WBC heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel shared his thoughts on a potential matchup between former world champion Anthony Joshua and Russian contender Arslanbek Makhmudov.
“It’s a very good fight — for both AJ and Makhmudov. Joshua would be coming back after that stoppage loss to Dubois, so it would also be a good option for him.
I think the fight could be very close. I don’t believe Joshua will win easily — it won’t be a walk in the park for him. But we’ll see in the ring. For boxing fans, it’s a very exciting matchup without a clear favorite,” said Kabayel.
Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) last fought in September 2024, when he was stopped in the fifth round by Daniel Dubois. It was recently reported that Joshua was offered a fight in Africa, with Martin Bakole considered one of the potential opponents.
On October 11, Arslanbek Makhmudov (21-2, 19 KOs) defeated David Allen by unanimous decision.
