Spomer is an aggressive boxer. He methodically pursues his opponent, applying constant, steady pressure and forcing them to make mistakes under it.

Zayas knows how to adapt to different styles. But in a fight against such a pressuring opponent, he should feel comfortable. Xander excels at working as a counterpuncher, drawing his opponents in and quickly counterattacking.

Zayas is 22, and Spomer is 32. However, both boxers have faced a similar level of opposition. Xander has beaten strong middleweights, but it’s hard to highlight anyone particularly powerful.

Spomer's opposition is roughly at the same level. In 2023, he scored a stoppage victory over Milan Prat, who entered the ring as the favorite. Currently, this is his biggest win of his career.

Both boxers stay busy in the ring, but Zayas is more of a volume puncher. He can throw close to 700 punches in ten rounds, often working as a counterpuncher.

Spomer applies constant pressure, only engaging in attack when he is closer to his opponent, focusing on offensive work.

Zayas fought twice in 2024—winning both by decision. His last stoppage win was in 2023. He has faced some criticism for this, but on the other hand, Xander has been through 20 solid rounds recently, and physical fatigue shouldn’t be expected in his upcoming fight.

Spomer fought once in 2024, and his last decision win was in 2022. Both of his 2023 bouts ended by stoppage.

Both fighters hit hard and are capable of securing a stoppage. However, Spomer's recent streak of three consecutive stoppage wins is more convincing. He has scored knockouts in the 8th, 10th, and 1st rounds, indicating that his punches can land at any moment. He knows how to conserve energy and finish off his opponents if they don’t go down right away, like he did with Prat.

However, Zayas should not be underestimated. Xander has knocked out 60% of his opponents; he’s a fast, hard-hitting boxer who knows how to land power punches.

Neither fighter has been stopped early, and both have shown solid chins and sufficient defense to avoid clean shots.

That said, this doesn’t guarantee that they will make it through the entire fight against each other. Both Zayas and Spomer have enough punching power to drop one another, so both need to be extremely cautious.

This will be Spomer's first fight in the USA and his second fight outside of Germany. In New York, there will certainly be a lot of Puerto Rican fans, so the atmosphere will likely not be in his favor.

It’s important to note that a win for Spomer here isn’t the most desirable outcome. He’s entering the ring against a prospect that the organizers and many fans are backing, so he will have to do a lot to convince the judges to give him the win if the fight goes to the decision.

Spomer arrives in the USA as a solid boxer, tasked with testing the prospect. And he is likely to be the one from whom Zayas will take the “0” in the loss column. This is one side of the confrontation.

On the other hand, it’s a massive opportunity for Spomer. The German boxer already beat Prat—while not as high-profile, Prat was also a prospect many were backing. Spomer pressed, cut angles, and methodically worked toward what he needed. Milan appeared faster and more technical, but ended up knocked down and then knocked out.

So, for Zayas, this is a true test. He is certainly capable of beating such an opponent. He is very technical, fast, and explosive. But to do so, he will need to fully immerse himself and show his class.
