Serhii Bohachuk Challenges Sebastian Fundora

Ukrainian light-middleweight Serhii Bogachuk (24-2, 23 KOs) has thrown down the gauntlet to WBC and WBO champion Sebastian Fundora (21-1-1, 13 KOs), proposing a showdown.

“I feel great. Sebastian Fundora, you now have no one to challenge you. I’m ready, let’s do this. Sebastian, come on. We can put on a magnificent show for the fans, and you know it. In Los Angeles, in Vegas – anywhere,” Bogachuk declared.

The possibility of such a fight was also confirmed by the Ukrainian’s promoter, Tom Leffler.

“Serhii Bogachuk is well-suited for a bout with Fundora. He fought in the WBC title eliminator in his last fight and currently holds the number two spot in the WBC rankings behind Spence. If there’s a chance to arrange this fight – it would be great. We have a lot of respect for Fundora, and this would be an excellent match-up,” Leffler stated.

Bogachuk’s trainer, Manny Robles, assures that the Ukrainian has plenty of time to prepare.

Bogachuk shouldn’t have backed down, because we had a contract. But we did, and allowed Fundora to fight Tim Tszyu. We will be ready. As soon as I heard that Errol Spence wouldn’t fight, I immediately opened up my calendar and started counting the days. Serhii could be in the gym by Monday, giving us 10 weeks to prepare. That’s more than enough time. Bogachuk took a short break after his last fight. His stance should count for something. Why not? Our initial plan was to face Fundora. Now we’re available. If anyone deserves a chance to fight for the titles – it’s Sergey,” Robles added.

Fundora had the opportunity to fight Errol Spence, but that bout fell through.
