Joseph Parker and Fabio Wardley Agree to Fight – The Ring

Interim WBO Heavyweight Champion Joseph Parker and interim WBA titleholder Fabio Wardley will meet on October 25, reports The Ring.

The bout between the 33-year-old New Zealander and the 30-year-old Briton will take place at the O2 Arena in London, England. The event will be broadcast on DAZN.

The winner will become the leading contender for a showdown with undisputed Heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. There also remains a possibility that the full WBO title, currently held by Usyk, will be on the line.

Last month, the WBO ordered Usyk to defend his title against Parker, but the undisputed champion’s team requested to postpone the negotiation deadline due to a back injury. However, after video surfaced of Usyk dancing, the WBO required updated medical confirmation of his condition.

If Usyk chooses to vacate the title, or if the WBO strips him, Parker would be elevated to full champion status, making his clash with Wardley his first defense.

Earlier, it was reported that Parker arrived in Dublin, Ireland, to begin training camp under Andy Lee.

Joseph Parker (36-3, 24 KOs) last fought in February, stopping Martin Bakole in the second round. He was originally set to face Daniel Dubois, who withdrew due to illness.

Fabio Wardley (19-0-1, 18 KOs) scored a 10th-round knockout over Justis Huni in June, despite trailing on the scorecards. At the time of the stoppage, the judges had it 88-83 and twice 89-82 in favor of Huni.
