Former three-weight world champion Duke McKenzie has shared his thoughts on a potential heavyweight rematch between the unified WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBO titleholder Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) and IBF champion Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs).
"I’m certain Dubois will have his moments. Going twelve rounds with him without taking a single shot is nearly impossible. Usyk is going to find himself in a real fight — maybe one that raises questions we’ve never seen him face before.
He might even have to pick himself up off the canvas. But he's got the heart and the mental strength to push through.
Dubois has serious power, and he’s improved a lot. But the real question is — is it enough for the highest level?
We’re talking about the elite of the heavyweight division here. He’s not facing some aging, battle-worn champ with gaps in his defense. Usyk doesn’t have any obvious weaknesses. He’s airtight in there.
I believe he’ll finish his career undefeated. Personally, I just don’t see a scenario where Dubois beats him. I really think Usyk will walk away from boxing without a single loss.
Look, I’d love to see Dubois pull it off. It would be something special to watch him triumph over Usyk.
But if I’m being honest — I just don’t see how that happens," said McKenzie.
Earlier reports confirmed that Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois are in the final stages of negotiations for a rematch, scheduled to take place on July 12th at Wembley Stadium in London, UK.
