IBF Confirms Vasyl Lomachenko Injury: Federation Decision

The International Boxing Federation (IBF) has officially granted lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko (18–3, 12 KOs), who holds the IBF and IBO titles, a medical exception. This decision allows him to retain his world champion status, as reported by Ring Magazine.

Additionally, a fight has been scheduled between Raymond Murata and Zaur Abdullaev for the interim IBF title, with Lomachenko obliged to face the victor by October 8.

Previously, the Ukrainian boxer’s manager, Egis Klymas, disclosed that Volodymyr needed to undergo an MRI of his spine in Ukraine. The results will determine whether the two-time Olympic champion can continue his career into 2025.

Volodymyr Lomachenko last stepped into the ring on May 12, when he defeated Australian George Kambosos by an 11th-round technical knockout to claim the IBF and IBO titles
