Briggs May Return Against Former Lennox Lewis Opponent

It was recently revealed that 53-year-old former heavyweight world champion Shannon Briggs (60-6-1, 53 KOs) is planning a comeback on July 1 — and his opponent could be none other than Oliver McCall (60-14, 39 KOs), a fellow former champion and ex-opponent of Lennox Lewis.

McCall, who is even older than Briggs, resumed his boxing career in November 2024 and has already notched two wins since returning to the ring.

The fight is reportedly being targeted for Nashville, Tennessee.

Briggs hasn’t fought since 2016, but according to the man himself, he never truly retired — he simply claims that active heavyweights don’t want to face him.
