The WBO has confirmed Alimkhanuly's positive doping test. What next?

The World Boxing Organisation (WBO) has confirmed that Kazakh middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly has failed a doping test. This happened on the eve of his unification bout against WBA belt holder Erislandy Lara.

"The WBO has confirmed the adverse result of the analysis of WBO middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly, conducted by VADA prior to his scheduled fight against Erislandy Lara.

An internal investigation is currently underway, and a notice of cause will be issued. No further comments will be provided until the process is complete," the WBO said in a statement.

According to insider Dan Rafael, Zhanibek tested positive for meldonium. Johan Gonzalez may replace Janibek.
